Award highlights the quality and craftsmanship at Welborne
National accolade reflects Welborne’s commitment to creating beautiful, high-quality homes designed to stand the test of time
Alex Reid-Johnson, a site manager for CG Fry & Son at Welborne has been recognised among the very best in the UK after receiving one of the housebuilding industry’s most respected accolades, an NHBC Pride in the Job 2026 Quality Award.
Widely regarded as the “Oscars” of the housebuilding industry, the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards celebrate site managers who demonstrate outstanding leadership, attention to detail, technical expertise and a commitment to the highest building standards.
Alex’s award highlights the quality-focused approach being taken across Welborne, the new generation sustainable garden village located between the market town of Wickham and Fareham. Designed to provide beautifully crafted homes alongside extensive publicly accessible green space, community amenities from the outset and sustainable infrastructure, Welborne is being delivered with a long-term vision to create a place where people will want to live for generations to come.
Commenting on the award, Alex said:
“This is my first NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award and I am over the moon. I pride myself on my attention detail and always ask whether I would be happy to live in the homes we’re building.”
John Beresford, Managing Director at Buckland Development, added:
“Alex’s achievement is a fantastic endorsement of the quality standards being delivered at Welborne. Our vision has always been to create a beautiful, sustainable new community that will stand the test of time, and that starts with building exceptional homes.
“I am delighted that Alex’s commitment to excellence has been acknowledged and congratulate him and our house build partner CG Fry & Son on this well-deserved success.”
The Pride in the Job Awards are considered the benchmark for excellence in UK housebuilding, with thousands of site managers assessed each year. Quality Award winners now progress to the next stage of the competition, including the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards later this year.
