welborne garden village trust
A place where you’ll want to put down roots for years to come
Welcome to Welborne Garden Village Trust Ltd (WGVT)
History has shown that enduringly popular and thriving places to live, work and enjoy are created from a combination of strong long-term vision (place making) and on-going stewardship (place keeping). Welborne is no different.
The WGVT has been established solely for Welborne as a not-for-profit stewardship company to manage and maintain all Welborne’s green spaces, community buildings and public amenities.
We are resident focused and community driven. The WGVT’s key role is to look after Welborne as a place, ensuring it thrives and that the quality of design endures over time. For further information, please see the Introduction to WGVT Guidebook.
The WGVT has three main functions:
1. Stewardship
Over 50% of Welborne consists of publicly accessible green space, including Dashwood woodland and Welborne Park, and has beautifully designed, walkable neighbourhoods with tree-lined streets, many verges, pocket parks and carefully maintained hedges.
To maintain and keep them looking beautiful, the WGVT has a dedicated team who have a regular presence on site. The team’s activities include:
Maintenance of Dashwood ancient Woodland, Fareham Common and the Welborne Mile SANGs and Welborne Park
Grass cutting, maintenance of the parks and green landscapes, street trees, verges and hedges around Welborne
Maintenance of the street landscape, such as the many walkways and cycle paths connecting you to your neighborhood and surrounding areas
2. Keeping the Vision
The WGVT is committed to the long-term place-keeping of Welborne by ensuring its original values and principles for the creation of a vibrant, sustainable and integrated new community last for many years to come. It does this by:
Implementing the practical controls and careful stewardship necessary to ensure Welborne’s Design Codes remain undiluted, and reviewing potential property alteration applications
Helping property owners and residents to uphold the Welborne covenants and stipulations and adhere to the Living at Welborne Guide
3. community development
The WGVT has a Community Development Manager at Welborne available to engage with residents from day one, sharing information on the surrounding community and amenities, and connecting our residents with community facilities in and around Welborne.
As Welborne grows, the Community Development Manager will also initiate events at Welborne and in time, support any residents who might like to set up their own activities. The WGVT aims to create a sense of belonging and ownership at Welborne. By nurturing community spirit we hope to develop a sense of shared ownership of Welborne - a place where you’ll want to put down roots for years to come.
